Europe’s Religious Transformation from Christianity to Islam

mailtwitterredditlinkedintumblrFacebookmailtwitterredditlinkedintumblrFacebook

Introduction

Douglas Murray’s book, The Strange Death of Europe, documents the decline of Christianity in Europe. The reasons he gives for this are multifaceted; the German philosophers with their Higher Criticism, Darwin’s Theory of Evolution and the weakness of the established church to respond. This left a vacuum that with the mass immigration of particularly young men from Islamic countries from 2010 to 2016, was quick to fill.

Personal Comment

The effect of what became known as Higher Criticism or the Enlightenment, on peoples’ faith would only be minimal, because in the 1800’s it was not widely publicised and their arguments can be dismissed quite easily.

However, the Theory of Evolution is a different story. Even though it lacked scientific credibility, it was embraced like a dying man clutching a lifesaver to prevent himself from drowning, because it offered an alternative to creation by the God of the Bible. If there is no God, then there is no right or wrong, no judgement, no heaven and no hell. If it was not for these reasons, evolution would have been consigned to the scrap heap like Aristotle’s spontaneous generation of life.

The weakness of the established church to combat this assault on Christianity is a very real reason for the church’s decline. A case in point is the unofficial apology by the Anglican church to Charles Darwin on the 200th anniversary of the publishing of his book, The Origin of Species.[1] They apologised because they “wrongfully” believed the Bible and not him.

What the Bible teaches about personal conduct

Below, is just a small selection of what the Bible teaches in terms of how Christians should treat others.

Leviticus 19:11 Do not steal. Do not lie. Do not deceive one another.

John 13:14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.

John 13:34 A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

John 13:35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Romans 12:16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

Romans 13:8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.

Romans 14:13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way.

Romans 15:7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

The effect Christianity had on Europe

Christianity is inextricably linked with establishing the security, empowerment and health of individuals of Europe. Without its Christian influence, Western Europe would be no different from the Muslim East.

Throughout its long history, the Christian Church has been a major source of social services like schooling and medical care; inspiration for art, culture and philosophy; and an influential player in politics and religion. It has, over many centuries, promulgated the teachings of Jesus within the Western world as well as throughout other nations. Festivals like Easter and Christmas are marked as public holidays; the Gregorian Calendar has been adopted internationally as the civil calendar; and the calendar itself is measured from the date of Jesus’ birth.

Christianity provided a set of rules for people to live by which are based on the Ten Commandments. Marriage is the combination of one man and one woman united for life, which has been shown to be the best environment for raising children. Orphanages and hospitals were commenced by caring Christians. The International Red Cross started in 1863 and was inspired by Swiss businessman and committed Christian, Henry Dunant. Universities were either an outgrowth of Christian monasteries or started as a place for the study of theology. Such examples are: The University of Bologna, The University of Paris, Oxford University, University of Edinburgh and Cambridge University. The same is true for Harvard University and Princeton University.

Science

The notion held by early scientists, is that God set and fixed the laws of nature and they are capable of being understood. This thinking set the conditions under which modern science and mathematics could flourish. Nicholas Copernicus, Frances Bacon, Galileo Galilei, Johannes Kepler, Rene Descartes, Blaise’ Pascal, Robert Boyle Isaac Newton, Carl Linnaeus, John Dalton, Michael Faraday, Charles Babbage, Gregor Mendel Louis Pasteur, Lord Kelvin Max Planck among many other scientists all proclaimed the God of the Bible as Creator.

In summarising his book, A Short History of Christianity,[2] Geoffrey Blainey, a non-Christian, made the following comment:

Christianity probably has been the most important institution in the world in the last 2,000 years. It has achieved more for western civilisation than has any other factor; it has helped far more people than it has harmed. So much of what seems admirable in the world today comes largely or partly from Christianity, and from people who practised it.

The increase of Islam on Europe.

Muslim armies conquered the Middle East and northern Africa then drove north to take Europe. However, after conquering Spain, they were stopped at France in the Battle of Tours in 732 and they retreated south. Europe remained free from Islam. The countries that were taken still remain under Islam today, except for Spain.

Europe remained free from the influence of Islam for almost 1300 years. In the very early years of the twenty first century, Muslims started to move into Europe as a result of fighting and discontent in their home lands of Syria, Turkey, Morocco, Algeria and Libya. Some were genuine refugees, but many were leaving Islamic countries for a better life in the Christian west.

They started coming in their thousands, then hundreds of thousands and in 2015 more than one million came. In this year alone, Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, opened Germany’s door to one million so called refugees, although most were young male Muslims. Germany, being the power house of Europe set the example for other countries to follow. In the map below, the Muslim countries are shown in green. Notice how small Israel (shown in red) is in comparison.

When people started to realise that multiculturism was not working and there was no assimilation, it was too late Europe had changed its demography. The percentage of the population who identify as Muslim in 2016 has been given by Pew research and is shown below.

Even in the unlikely event that future migration is permanently halted, the Muslim population would continue to increase from 4.9% to an estimated 7.4% by 2050 due to the relative youth and high fertility rates of Europe’s current Muslim residents.[3] Yasser Arafat once said that: the strongest weapon that the Palestinians have is the womb of Palestinian mothers. Is it possible that in the long run, Israel ceases to exist as a Jewish state due to high birth rates of Palestinians?

Individual countries, it is estimated, will have a much higher level. For example, Sweden with 8.1% in 2016, Pew Research estimate that if the current trend continues, will have increased to 30.65 by. 2050.[4]

Sophie Bell[5] made the following comment on what was the most popular baby boy’s name in the UK; For the fourth year running, Muhammad remained in poll position. Noah clung to the runner-up spot while Oliver moved up one position to number three, pushing Leo down into fifth place.

The effect of Islam in Europe

The growing Muslim population will (has) change the face of Europe socially, politically and economically. This image is that of Friday’s prayers, not in a Middle Eastern country, but in a Paris suburb. Credit: https://www.neweurope.eu/article/france-prevent-muslim-street-prayers-paris-suburb.

Recent history has shown that Muslims do not integrate in their host country, they prefer to congregate in enclaves which in many cases have become “No Go” places even for the local police. It is impossible to imagine that enclaves of Christians would be “No Go” places for the local police.

What the Koran teaches about non-Muslims

Muslims are guided by their holy book, the Koran, which teaches that Muslims should fight and destroy the infidel (non-Muslims). Some excerpts from the Koran,[6] which advocates such activity, are given below:

But when the sacred months are over, slay the Idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them. If they repent [change to Islam] and take to prayer and render alms levy, allow them to go their way. God is forgiving and merciful. (9:5)

Fight against such of those to whom the scriptures were given as believe in God [Jews and Christians], nor the Last Day, who do not forbid what God and His apostles have forbidden, and do not embrace the true faith, until they pay tribute [a tax which non-Muslims must pay] out of hand and are utterly subdued. (9:29)

God revealed His will to the angels, saying: ‘I shall be with you. Give courage to the believers. I shall cast terror into the hearts of the infidels [non-Muslims]. Strike off their heads, strike off the very tips of their fingers!’ (8:12)

Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them. Know that God is with the righteous. (9:123)

The result of this teaching

As shown above, Muslims are told they are to kill the infidel and this is the reason for what has become known as Islamic Terrorism. Although there has been thousands of these attacks, the deadliest of this period have been the November 2015 Paris attacks (130 killed), the July 2016 Nice truck attack (86 killed), the June 2016 Atatürk Airport attack (45 killed), the March 2016 Brussels bombings (32 killed), and the May 2017 Manchester Arena bombing (22 killed).

A French think tank; Fondation Pour L’Innovation Politique published a document titled: Islamists Terrorists Attacks in the World 1979 to 2019.[7] Their research is summarized below.

Thus, by way of illustration, we can establish that between 1979 and 2019, at least 33,769 Islamist terrorist attacks took place worldwide. They caused the deaths of at least 167,096 people. We can also say that Islamist terrorist attacks account for 18.8% of all attacks worldwide, but that they are responsible for 39.1% of the lives lost due to terrorism; or that, during the years studied, there has been an intensification of this violence and that the deadliest period is the most recent: from 2013 onwards, in our opinion, Islam has become the main cause (63.4%) of deaths due to terrorism in the world.

What the Koran teaches about women

James Arlandson teaches World Religions, Humanities, Introduction to Philosophy, and Introduction to Ethics at various colleges, below, he provides a list of ten instructions in the Koran (Quran) regarding women. For the sake of brevity, just the main statement is given, the rest with accompanying explanations can be found here: https://unite-production.s3.amazonaws.com/tenants/mtcalvaryhuron/attachments/105871/Top_ten_rules_in_the_Quran_that_oppress_women.pdf.

  1. A husband has sex with his wife, as a plow goes into a field. The Quran in Sura 2:223.
  2. Husbands are a degree above their wives. The Quran in Sura 2:228
  3. A male gets a double share of the inheritance over that of a female. The Quran in Sura 4:11
  4. A woman’s testimony counts half of a man’s testimony. The Quran in Sura 2:282
  5. A wife may remarry her ex—husband if and only if she marries another man, they have

sex, and then this second man divorces her. The Quran in Sura 2:230

  1. Slave—girls are sexual property for their male owners. The Quran in Sura 4:24
  2. A man may be polygamous with up to four wives. The Quran in Sura 4:3
  3. A husband may simply get rid of one of his undesirable wives. The Quran in Sura 4:129
  4. Husbands may hit their wives even if the husbands merely fear highhandedness in their

wives (quite apart from whether they actually are highhanded). The Quran in Sura 4:34

  1. Mature men are allowed to marry prepubescent girls. The Quran in Sura 65:1, 4

The result of this teaching

In a shocking interview with the Triggernometry, rape survivor Dr. Ella Hill has revealed that at least half a million Non-Muslim (Kaffir) girls have been raped by grooming gangs, operated by Muslim men in the United Kingdom, in the past 40 years.[8]

Over 1,200 women were reportedly sexually assaulted during the 2015–16 public New Year’s Eve’s celebrations in Germany, in most cases by men of non-European origin. Multiple women reported being raped. In many of the incidents, women in public places had been surrounded and assaulted by groups of men. The Bundeskriminalamt (German Federal Criminal Police) confirmed in July 2016 that 1,200 women had been sexually assaulted on that New Year’s night.

On this same New Year’s Eve 2015, hundreds of women were mobbed and sexually assaulted during celebrations in the western German city of Cologne. German politics and society were forever changed. Franco Clemens, who at the time headed a refugee accommodation center in Cologne, is appalled at what was done to the women. For him and his staff, the violence came as a “shock, which felt like the ground was pulled out from under our feet.” Clemens sees the welcoming culture for refugees, which had been promoted by Merkel, as being called into question.

These are only two of the many examples of what happens when Islam, with its views on women, is brought into a country that was built on Christian values.

Unfortunately, most of the media in the West leans strongly to the political left (progressives) and they have declared Islam to be politically correct and as a consequence, they are reluctant to report anything that is averse to Islam, Douglas Murray makes this point very clear in his book.

Some reason for optimism

The following is the abstract of a report in Voice of the Nation Organiser[9] Muslims have come to faith in Jesus Christ over the last thirty years—and specifically over the last seven to ten years—than at any other time in human history,” wrote Joel Rosenberg in 2008, and the pace has intensified since then. Uwe Siemon-Netto confirmed in 2016 that “a global phenomenon is underway: Muslims are converting to various Christian denominations in droves in every part of the world.” Indeed, Christian missionaries have even coined a name and an abbreviation for them: Muslim-background believers, or MBBs.

This remarkable phenonium is despite this Hadith quote from Muhammad: Whoever changes his religion, kill him. This directive is still carried out today. And the fact that any child who has Muslim parents is automatically Muslim.
